Funding Opportunities
Project Title: Hopkins-Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Cancer Research Fund
Sponsoring Department: SKCCC
Deadline Date: Wednesday, November 20, 2019

Each proposal must include a SKCCC Member or AHN researcher as principal investigator (PI) or co-principal investigator (Co-PI). A SKCCC Member or AHN researcher may only participate in one application as PI or Co-PI. The proposal cannot be duplicative with other funding, at the time of the award. Overlap will be assessed by SKCCC staff on a Just-In-Time model. Applications including both SKCCC and AHN researchers will be favorably received, as will applications that have the potential to bring new approaches and expertise to bear on important problems in cancer research.

Applications will be submitted online and will consist of:
1. Coversheet, which will be downloaded from this site.
2. A research proposal of 2 pages or less, including figures but not references (separate page).

  1. Specific Aims
  2. Significance
  3. Background, including preliminary studies of the applicant
  4. Research Design, including potential impact if successful

3. A one page budget and budget justification that describes how the funding will be allocated among personnel, supplies, and equipment. Faculty salary can be included or excluded. Budgets up to $100,000 direct costs per year can be proposed. No indirect costs can be included.
4. An NIH-style biosketch (4 pages maximum) for the PI and Co-PIs (if applicable). It is not necessary to include current or pending funding information, as these will be requested Just In Time.

Review Process: Applications will be subjected to two-tiered review in the SKCCC. Applications will first undergo numerical scoring by at least two reviewers. Neither comments nor scores will be returned to applicants. Applications will then be ranked in order of priority of funding by senior members of the SKCCC. Final funding decisions will be made by a research council composed of both SKCCC and AHN researchers.
