SKCCC Microarray Core Facility


Welcome to Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center DNA Microarray Core Facility!

Since its establishment in November 2004, our core facility has been providing services with affordable rates, flexibility and timely manner to Cancer Center investigators and research laboratories across Hopkins Medical Campus. We operate with array platforms which are not primarily offered by other genomics and genetics core facilities throughout School of Medicine. We are closely linked to the Bioinformatics Core at Cancer Center for high level computational needs of our users.

Our core facility currently operates with array platforms from Illumina and Agilent Technologies, and is equipped with Illumina iScan and Agilent upgraded scanner for high-density array image acquisition. Array services being offered include genome-wide gene and microRNA expression, DNA methylation, copy number variation (CNV), single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and ChIP-on-chip analysis. We have adopted working protocols to carry out above analyses with different sample types such as clinical specimen, sorted cells or paraffin-embedded tissue blocks. For instance, we use Illumina gene expression DASL assay and Infinium methylation450K array to profile gene expression and DNA methylation from FFPE samples respectively.

Our services also include sample preparations, sample quality assessment and experiment design consultation. Preliminary data analysis and help in using software for data analysis are offered upon request.
